Accessibility

The OFFER website is designed to be as easy as possible to read. It is built using modern standards laid out by the World Wide Web Consortium: this should allow for assistive technologies such as Braille and screen readers, but should also allow user choice on how the site is viewed or used.

If you can't see all of the page.

The Display Settings of your Monitor may be the problem: if you have your display set to a low resolution, then some pages will appear to have gaps and you may need to scroll down further to see the text. The site was designed for a minimum resolution of 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels tall, which is not always good for smaller and older monitors.

If you can't read the text comfortably.

Changing Text Size. The size of the text on this website is scalable, meaning that a visually impaired user may resize the on-screen text until it is at a level that is comfortable for them. The method for achieving this varies with individual browsers.

For Internet Explorer
Select the "View" menu, then the "Text Size" sub-menu and select an applicable text-size. "Normal" is the default size of text for a website with "Larger" and "Largest" increasing the text-size accordingly.

For Mozilla & Mozilla Firefox
Select the "View" menu, then the "Text Size" sub-menu and select an option to increase or decrease the Text Size accordingly. The keyboard shortcut for these actions have you hold down the "CTRL" button, then press either the "+" (plus) or "-" (minus) keys to either increase or decrease your text-size.

Opera
With the Opera browser you can "Zoom in" to a website which increases all page elements, not just the text size. To achieve this, select the "View" menu, then the "Zoom" sub-menu and select a zoom option that suits you. The keyboard shortcuts for increasing and descreasing the text size use the "+" (plus) and "-" (minus) keys and the "*" (asterisk) key for resetting the zoom level.

For many browsers you can hold down the "CTRL" key while scrolling your mouse wheel (if present) as an easy and quick way of increasing text-size.

Javascript

The use of Javascript on this website is extremely limited and the entire site is usable both with Javascript disabled or if your web browser does not support Javascript. In the occasional instance where Javascript is used, an alternative is provided if possible and core site functionality should not be inhibited. The most common use of Javascript is for so-called "pop-up" windows which allows for strict control over the size and positions of new windows.

Media

Binary documents (downloadable files which are not web pages) made available on this site are, where possible, distributed in formats which are the most widely accepted for what the document represents. Common formats for textual documents are Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF. In both cases, free software is available for viewing these files without purchasing specialist software. Other document formats are used when necessary and can be (but not limited to): Microsoft Excel, JPEG, Quicktime Movies and Windows Media Video. In most cases, free software is available that is able to view the documents.
